"What's Your Sign" is a song recorded by the British pop and soul singer Des'ree. Written by the singer with the track's producer Ashley Ingram, "What's Your Sign?" was released as the fourth single from Des'ree's third studio album Supernatural (1998). It was released on 26 October 1998.

Background

In 1994, Des'ree released her second studio album, I Ain't Movin' which was commercially successful worldwide, reaching the Top 10 in several countries including the US Billboard 200 where it sold 700,000 copies to date. Later the album got a Gold certification in the US. Its lead single, "You Gotta Be", was a hit in the United States, reaching number five on the Billboard Hot 100.[1][2] The singer took a four-year break before releasing Supernatural, which she said made her nervous. "But I said to myself, 'I'd rather have that absence and come out with a stunning record than feel the pressure to come out with something earlier and the record be mediocre.'"[2] Polly Anthony, president of 550 Music said that the record label had been "patiently waiting" for Supernatural, and was comfortable with artists working within their own timeframes.[2] Kissing You was released as the lead single from Supernatural and Life was released as the second single. Both the singles and the album achieved commercial success topping the charts in most of European countries and Oceania. Following this surprising performance, What's Your Sign was released as the fourth single from the album.
