Westland Middle School is a public school in Bethesda in unincorporated Montgomery County, Maryland. It opened in 1952 as Western Junior High School, it then changed its name to Westland Jr. High School when it merged with Leland Junior High School, and later to Westland Intermediate School.

The school serves the Chevy Chase area, part of Silver Spring, and some areas considered to be Bethesda. Several municipalities, including the towns of Chevy Chase, Chevy Chase View, Chevy Chase Village, and Somerset, and the villages of Chevy Chase Section Three, Chevy Chase Section Five, Martin's Additions, and North Chevy Chase, are assigned to Westland Middle School. Roughly 1200 students are currently enrolled at Westland.[1]

The school is part of the Bethesda Chevy Chase High School cluster.[1] Half of the students at the school enter when they are in the seventh grade, as many go to Chevy Chase Elementary and North Chevy Chase Elementary which end in sixth grade, unlike Somerset Elementary School, Rock Creek Forest Elementary, Westbrook Elementary, and Bethesda Elementary which end in fifth grade. The school has a rivalry with the school Thomas W. Pyle Middle School, a nearby middle school. The mascot of the school is the Wildcat (Westland Wildcats).

Alison Serino became principal as of July 1, 2012, replacing Daniel Vogelman who had served as principal before becoming an Assistant Superintendent in Wilson, NC.[2]
