Westlake High School (abbreviated to WHS) is a public high school located in Saratoga Springs, Utah and part of Utah County's Alpine School District. The school first opened in 2009. In late 2011, construction began for a new junior high school in nearby Eagle Mountain that will remove 9th grade from Westlake for the 2013-14 school year and on.
Adjacent to the school is a seminary building of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Also nearby is Vista Heights Middle School.
Fine Arts
In the year 2012, Westlake High School's Marching Band was the 4A State Champion with the show "Making of a Masterpiece," and were a Bands of America regional finalist at the St. George BOA regional, taking 10th place. The "Marching Thunder" repeated as Utah 4A State champion in 2013 with their show, "Our Town," and also placed 4th at the St George, Utah Bands of America Regional. During the 2013 season, the color guard won the "best guard" caption award in every competition entered by the Marching Thunder.

Grading System
Westlake High School uses a unique grading system called a TMU (Thunder Mastery Unit). A TMU is a grouping of assignments and assessments in a given unit. The combined result of these two groups are weighted at 50% in Skyward: Assignments, including all assignments given in the unit to enhance learning (i.e., quizzes, homework, classwork, labs, etc.), and Assessments, used to measure the learning of students (i.e., projects, essays, tests, etc.). This is the average grade for all work (assignments and assessments) in a given unit. The other 50% is weighted by the "mastery" of any given assessments. Students receive an “EX" or "0" for passing or failing an assessment. Students who don’t reach mastery on any of the TMU assessments will see a “0″ until each assessment is remediated/corrected. A class may have one or more units in a term, depending on the subject area being taught.
