Western Switzerland–Simplon Company

The Western Switzerland–Simplon Railway (French: Compagnie de la Suisse Occidentale et du Simplon, SOS) was a former Swiss rail company, formed in 1881 and absorbed into the Jura–Simplon Railway in 1890.

History

The Western Switzerland-Simplon Railway was created on 28 June 1881 from the merger of the Western Swiss Railways (French: Chemins de Fer de la Suisse Occidentale, SO) and the Simplon Railway Company (French: Compagnie du chemin de fer du Simplon, S). In 1888 it absorbed the Jura–Bern–Luzern Railway. In 1890, the SOS merged with Pont–Vallorbe Railway to from the Jura–Simplon Railway (JS).
