West Jordan High School is a public high school founded in 1981. Located southwest of Salt Lake City in West Jordan, Utah, it is home of just over 2000 students. The men's varsity basketball team won the 2001 state championship,[2] as well as the 2009 State championship against Lone Peak High School, the two-time defending champion.[3]

West Jordan is well known for its historically amazing music program. It has one of the largest choir programs of any public school in the state under well-recognized Choir Director Kelly DeHaan,[4] with record enrollment of over 300 students. In the school year of 09-10, the WJHS choirs took first place in San Diego, California during the Heritage Festivals-sponsored Choir Tour. The band and orchestra programs also consistently score well in competitions, under renowned Band Director Chelle Leyva[5] until 2012 and Orchestra Director Jenna Baumgart.[6]
