Theater/Drama

The Drama Club is where students learn about drama and get the chance to produce plays and musicals throughout the year. During the school year of 2009-2010, the club became part of the after school program called ASSETs. With a small budget and an infrequently used classroom, the student actors changed the way the student body viewed drama. They initially started with a play called The Miracle Worker which was well received by audiences. West Campus also had a successful original production. The award winning production of Rent: School Edition by Jonathan Larson was the biggest drama production in West Campus history. The show had 1 cast, different from their past productions which had 2 casts, and for the first time, 6 performances sold out. It received favorable reviews and 7 Elly Award nominations including Best Overall Musical Production in the High School category.

West Campus has an Academic Performance Index score of 903 and a state ranking of 10. On April 18, 2007, West Campus High School received the California Distinguished School Award.
