Welcome to Me is a 2014 American comedy film directed by Shira Piven and written by Eliot Laurence. The film stars Kristen Wiig, James Marsden, Linda Cardellini and Wes Bentley. The film was released on May 1, 2015 in select theaters.[2]

Plot

A woman with borderline personality disorder wins the lottery and decides to spend the cash on her own cable access talk show, where her larger-than-life personality and obsession with being famous begins to alienate her friends and family.

Casting

On March 20, 2013, Kristen Wiig was in talks to join the cast of the film and re-team with Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues cohorts Will Ferrell and Adam McKay who are acting as producers.[6] Later On May 21, 2013 it was announced that Wiig has signed to star in the film.[3][7] On July 16, 2013 more cast was added to the cast include Linda Cardellini, Tim Robbins and Jennifer Jason Leigh.[5] On July 29, 2013 four more actors added to the cast with Wiig include Wes Bentley, James Marsden, Joan Cusack and Alan Tudyk.[4] On December 3, 2014 Millennium Entertainment acquired the American distribution rights to the film.[8]

Filming

The shooting of the film began in July 2013 in Los Angeles and filming mostly in Greater Los Angeles Area. The film was being shot in Indio, California, filming a scene at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino hotel. The crew will also film the scenes in Inland Empire, Banning, Beaumont and Cabazon.[9] On 14 August filming took place in Palm Springs.[10]

Theatrical run

The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 5, 2014.[11] The film was released in the United States on May 1, 2015.[12]

Home media

The film will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on June 16, 2015 in the United States.[13]
