Welcome to Karachi is an upcoming Indian film directed by Ashish R Mohan and produced by Vashu Bhagnani and Uzair Junejo . The film stars Arshad Warsi[1] and Jackky Bhagnani as pivotal leads.[2]It is a remake of the 1994 English film Dumb and Dumber starring Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels.

The film is a political satire about two Indians who land in Karachi, Pakistan without their passports. No sooner do they get trapped in web of the Taliban and try to find a way to get back to India.[3] Music directors Jeet Ganguly and Rochak Kohli, will be composing music for this film. The film is set for a release on May 21, 2015.[4]

Production

The film has been shot in various parts of the United Kingdom including Bradford, Birmingham and Wales and sets were recreated to resemble Karachi. During the shooting of scenes in Wales, the lead actors were mistaken as real Taliban people and the shoot was halted by Scotland Yard authorities.[5] The Bradford Bazaar was used as the backdrop of the film's shooting in Bradford.[6] During the shoot, the airport set from Birmingham was stolen by truckloaders. During this, Bhagnani suffered a loss to due to which shooting came to a halt.[7]

Casting

The role of Jackky Bhagnani was first offered to Irrfan Khan but due to other commitments Khan left the film.[8] Pakistani actress Kubra Khan who debuted in the 2014 Pakistani film Na Maloom Afraad is set to make her Bollywood debut with this film as the female lead.[9][10]
