We Are They Who Ache with Amorous Love
We Are They Who Ache with Amorous Love is an album released by the rock group Half Japanese.
Style
This album seems to recall their earlier more ramshackle releases, such as Half Gentlemen/Not Beasts, or Loud. There is a great deal of horn playing, and it's very chaotic, and it seems to be influenced by free jazz and Captain Beefheart. There are six covers, including "Gloria" a Them´s song famously covered and rewritten by Patti Smith. Two songs were co-written with Daniel Johnston; "Titanic", and " Hand Without a Body".
Legacy
Kurt Cobain of Nirvana called this his 37th favorite album in his top 50 favorite album list in his Journals.[1][2][3]
