Waze & Odyssey are a British House production duo consisting of Serge Santiago and Firas Waez.[1] Coming together in 2011 the duo came to prominence after releasing on labels such as Wolf Music, Lets Play House, Tsuba and Throne of Blood.[2][3][4] Waze & Odyssey also have their own record label W&O Street Tracks releasing house music from the likes of Citizen, Ejeca, Squarehead.[5]
In 2014, Waze & Odyssey had a top 5 hit in the UK in 2014 with a remix of R. Kelly's Bump n' Grind.[6]
Waze & Odyssey's sound brings together house music, techno, disco influences and UK bass music.
Career
As DJs
Waze & Odyssey have toured extensively across Europe, USA and Asia. They have played many of the worlds biggest and most influential clubs such as Panorama Bar (Berghain), Fabric, The Warehouse Project, Amnesia and at festivals including Glastonbury, EXIT Festival, Bestival, and Secret Garden Party.[7]
They have received significant support from BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong, Annie Mac.
In February 2015, they were invited to do BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix.[8][9]
Waze & Odyssey also host a monthly radio show on Rinse FM and in 2014 did a Boiler Room session in Berlin.[10][11]
As Producers
The pairing have released records on Wolf Music, petFood, Disco Bloodbath, Lets Play House, Tsuba, Throne of Bloody, and their own label W&O Street Tracks.
In 2012 they were nominated for Best Breakthrough Producers at the DJ Mag Awards.
They have also remixed a wide spectrum of artists such as Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Ejeca, Disclosure and Duke Dumont.[12]
W&O Street Tracks
In 2012, Waze & Odyssey started their own label W&O Street Tracks, releasing new, exciting and underground house music.[13]
As well as releasing their own music, the duo have released the likes of Sage Caswell, Ejeca, Citizen and xxxy. In 2014, they released a compilation named WOSTC001.
Bump & Grind 2014
In 2013, the duo created a bootleg containing R. Kelly's Bump n' Grind and MK's version of Push the Feeling On by Nightcrawlers (band).[14] Having been originally intended only for their DJ sets, the track received club support from the likes of Duke Dumont, Skream and Rudimental.
In 2013, Sony Records approached the duo to release the record and the sample was signed off by R Kelly. The track released by RCA and sold over 200,000 copies in the UK alone and became a number 3 hit.[15] The track featured official remixes Le Youth and Paul Woolford (DJ) under his Special Request alias.[16]
