Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre

Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre is a major regional shopping centre servicing the southern suburbs of the city of Geelong, Australia. It is located on the corner of the Princes Highway and Pioneer Road, Waurn Ponds.

It opened in the early 1990s as the "Town and Country Shopping Centre". It was first expanded in the late 1990s with the opening of a Target department store alongside a number of speciality stores. This was followed by the development of an 8-screen Readings cinema complex. The centre was bought by Australian Unity in 1999, and redeveloped in 2007 with an expanded Target and 36 new speciality stores.[1] A further two-stage redevelopment in 2014 will see the complex double in size to 47,000 square metres. The first stage, which opened in May 2014, saw new Kmart and Coles megastores and a food court, with another 40 speciality stores to open in stage 2 in August 2014.[2][3] The Industry Superannuation Property Trust purchased a 50% stake in the centre from Australian Unity in June 2014, at a cost of $63 million.[4]
