Waterway Point (Chinese: 水滨坊) is an upcoming shopping mall located in the town centre of Punggol New Town, Singapore, just beside Punggol MRT/LRT station. The mall is part of Punggol's first integrated waterfront residential and retail development, Watertown and is scheduled to be completed by 2015.[2]

History

Construction of Waterway Point, in 2014.

In October 2011, property developer Frasers Centerpoint Limited announced that a new shopping mall would be built in Punggol. Jointly developed with Far East Organization and Sekisui House, Waterway Point which is part of the S$1.6 billion new Watertown development, will consist of a residential component which will feature over 900 units comprising suites, SOHO apartments, sky patios, and condominium apartments.[2]

In October 2012, Frasers Centerpoint Limited announced that it has secured two anchor tenants, NTUC FairPrice Finest and Shaw Theatres. Waterway Point will feature a “24 Hour Basement” level, with FairPrice Finest supermarket and Shaw Theatres anchoring the activities round-the-clock, complemented by various dining and entertainment outlets. The FairPrice Finest outlet at Waterway Point will be the twelfth FairPrice Finest outlet in Singapore, and the second 24-hour Finest outlet.[3]

Facilities

Waterway Point comprises 4 levels inclusive of 2 basements, and has a tenant mix of approximately 30% F&B, 40% retail, 15% entertainment, 15% others (education institutions, banks, civic & community amenities such as a library). It is also the first mall to be integrated with a town square and a visitors’ centre which will provide an avenue for residents and the public to learn more about the heritage of Punggol through exhibitions and civic and community events. The mall also boasts the first ever suburban late-night shopping, alfresco dining and entertainment concept by the waterfront.[3]

The mall will feature Singapore's first basement cinema with an IMAX theatre occupying 32,500 square feet of retail space with an estimated 1,000 seats operated by Shaw Theatres. The basement also includes a NTUC Fairprice Finest outlet which occupies 30,000 square feet of retail space.[4]
