Water to the Soul
Water to the Soul is the 1992 debut album from Colorhaus, a duo starring Phil Radford and Australian country vocalist Sherrié Austin.[1][2]
Composition
The album was produced by Bob Mitchell. "Innocent Child", the hit single from the album, rose to No.50 on Billboard[3] after being presented on March 26 of that same year.[4] The song was also No.10 in airplay at KDWB in Minneapolis, Minnesota in June 1992,[5] was in rotation on Friday Night Videos at the same time,[6] ranked No.36 on Rick Dees Weekly Top 40[7] and was featured on Disc 8 of Windswept Pacific, a compilation album by Longitude Records.[8]
Critical reception
Steven McDonald of AllMusic stated that Austin "hasn't quite settled on a style yet, and wanders from Kate Bush to Christina Amphlett, but her breathy voice has a nice seductive edge when she's going with the flow".[9] Chuck Eddy described the album's music as "nonsensical" and wrote that it had "madly manipulative hooks".[10] [11]
