WarnerFilms is a Canadian English language category B specialty channel owned by Hollywood Suite that broadcasts completely in high definition. The channel broadcasts films primarily from the Warner Bros. library in addition to Canadian content. WarnerFilms broadcasts films in their entirety, uncut and commercial free, with the only commercial messages airing between films.[1]
History
On July 2, 2010, Jay Switzer (co-founder of Hollywood Suite), was granted approval by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) to launch a specialty television channel called Velocity, described as "a national, English‑language Category 2 specialty programming service devoted to the entire genre of action and adventure, including selections from crime fiction, and epic and heroic drama."[2]
While initially set to launch on November 14, 2011, after several short delays, the channel launched on November 23, 2011 as "WarnerFilms" exclusively in HD along with three other HD channels.[3]
