Walter Burton Ford

Walter Burton Ford (May 18, 1874, Oneonta, New York – February 24, 1971, Seneca County, New York) was an American mathematician working in analysis.

He earned his PhD in 1905 from Harvard under the direction of Maxime Bôcher. Ford was a mathematics professor at the University of Michigan and played a significant role in mathematics education in the U.S.A by writing a series of textbooks that were widely used in secondary schools. He served as president of the Mathematical Association of America in 1927-1928.
