Athletics

The Walnut High football team contends in Division 7 of CIF.[4]

The aquatics program offered is one of the best in the area with the water polo team winning a CIF championship and both the water polo and swim teams winning league titles.[5]

The soccer program has been strong since its inception and is a strong contributor to the schools athletic program. They have won two CIFSS 1-A Championships (1990, 1992), including an undefeated season in 1992 (25-0-1) under head Coach Doug Doner.[5]

Walnut's girls' golf team is also a strong contributor to the athletic program. They are the strongest among their league, having won league titles in 2013 and 2014. Their girls golf team also made history in the state of California in 2014, being the youngest team (3 years of existence) to reach CIF-SS state and to place second. The golf teams, both girls and boys, is currently coached by Cecil Woods, formerly a professional baseball player.

Walnut's Cross Country team is ranked 4th in San Gabriel Valley. The XC team is coached by legendary Coach Jim Polite and Assistant Coach Keith Thompson.

Walnut's National Champion Dance Team holds six national titles and was back-to-back champions from 2008-2012. The Dance Team is currently coached by head coach Jenny Tomlin, and Assistant Coaches, Meghan Cole and Audrey De Guzman.
