Waldir Peres, real name Waldir Peres de Arruda, (born January 2, 1951 in Garça, Brazil), was a Brazilian footballer. He was a goalkeeper, in particular with São Paulo FC and the Brazilian national team. His son Diogo Pires is also football player.[1]

In 2006, he was Vitória-ES U-18 team manager during Copa São Paulo de Juniores.

National team

He was capped 30 times for Brazil, between October 1975 and July 1982; he was a member of the Brazilian national team during the World Cup 1974, 1978 and 1982. He played five games at the World Cup 1982.
