Wajid Akhtar (Urdu: واجد اختر; born July 1984) is an English singer-songwriter of Pakistani descent signed to IQRA Promotions.
Early life
Akhtar was born and brought up in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. He comes from a Muslim family of Asian origin. After he left school, he began to write and sing many of his own nasheeds. He then went onto to perform his nasheeds locally.[1]
Career
In April 2008, Akhtar performed with the Kaiser Chiefs at the Love Music Hate Racism festival in Victoria Park, London.[2] In September 2008, his debut album Show Me the Way was released by IQRA Promotions,[1] along with his first music video "I Need Your Help".[1][3]
