WTCV is a full-service television station in San Juan, Puerto Rico transmitting over digital channel 32. The station serves as an owned and operated station of Spanish Broadcasting System's Mega TV network, since September 11, 2014. WVEO is a full-service television station in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico transmitting on digital channel 17. WVOZ-TV (digital channel 47) is also a full-service television station located in Ponce, Puerto Rico. These stations are owned by Spanish Broadcasting System through a License management agreement (LMA) by International Broadcasting Corporation.
During the 1980s and early 1990s, WTCV was known as WSJU (SJU standing for San Juan International Airport's ID) and was an NBC affiliate, one of two commercial English-language networked stations broadcasting in Puerto Rico (the other being WPRV-TV) during the 80s; around 1990, the station also carried Home Shopping Network programming during most of the late-morning and afternoon hours.[1] There are now three commercial English-language network-affiliated stations in Puerto Rico, all of which broadcast from Mayagüez.
On September 11, 2014, WTCV became a Mega TV owned & operated station, following the sale of Spanish Broadcasting System through its License Management Agreement for $18 millon, leaving its status as an Independent station, while International Broadcasting Corporation continues to be its Licensee. Starting in March 2015, WTCV will begin its Local programming, produced by SBS Puerto Rico, which owns Z-93, La Nueva 94, Estereotempo and La Mega.
