WSNN
City of license Potsdam, New York
Branding B-99.3
Frequency 99.3 MHz
First air date 1968 (When I lived in the area during that time, there was WPDM-AM (Dave Cade was the morning DJ; Kevin Mastilon (sp?) also announced as well), and WPDM-FM. AM signed off at sunset (Being a young radio geek, I recorded both their AM and FM sign-offs; the AM went like this: "WPDM AM, Potsdam, NY, now concludes its broadcast day. WPDM AM operates at the assigned frequency of 1470 kilocycles [yes, they used 'kilocycles' back then] with a power output of 1,000 watts, as authorized by the Federal Communications Commission in Washington, D.C. For more of the very best in Seaway valley listening, tune to WPDM FM, 99.3 on your FM dial, as our programing continues." Then they played "The St. Lawrence River", I think by Mitch Miller. And then they were off the air. FM signed off at midnight. It wasn't until one morning in 1977 (I think) I woke up to the then-owner of the station, who was doing the DJ-ing, as it was the first day that, although still simulcasting, they started with WSNN-FM and WPDM AM. We had just moved to the area in 1968, so perhaps the FM side of WPDM just started in that year, but it was always "WPDM AM and FM" until the change in '77.)
