WPFB (910 AM) is a radio station broadcasting an adult album alternative format. Licensed to Middletown, Ohio, USA, the station serves the Dayton area. The station is currently owned by Northern Kentucky University and is currently simulcasting WNKU 89.7 FM.[2][3]

History

WPFB first signed on in 1947 as a daytime-only station but a few months later received permission from the FCC to also broadcast in the evening. Throughout much of its history, WPFB had several format switches from middle of the road, country music, adult standards to talk radio and classic country. The station, along with co-owned WPFB-FM and WPAY-FM in Portsmouth, Ohio, was purchased in January 2011 by Northern Kentucky University (NKU), the owners of WNKU. WPFB-FM, whose call letters have been changed to WNKN, currently serves as a repeater station of WNKU and NKU has indicated that they intend to sell WPFB to help fund the purchase of the two FM stations.[4] In the meantime, WPFB also serves as a repeater station of WNKU.
