WMYM is a Radio Disney station serving the Miami/Fort Lauderdale, Florida market. It also reaches and covers Disney Cruise Line's private island, Castaway Cay. WMYM broadcasts on 990 kHz.

Despite identifying as "Miami-Ft. Lauderdale", WMYM's directional pattern causes the signal to be inaudible in Broward County.

History

WFAB, "La Fabulosa" broadcast a Spanish language format on 990 throughout the nineteen fifties and sixties but lost their license and was off the air for many years before the Disney corporation was able to obtain permission to operate on this frequency. They used a six-tower inline array. WMYM uses a six-tower parallelogram. The pattern had to be tightened because of an upgrade on a Pompano Beach station on 980.

Sale

On August 13, 2014, Disney put WMYM and twenty-two other Radio Disney stations up for sale, in order to focus more on digital distribution of the Radio Disney network.[1][2]

On February 12, 2015, Radio Actualidad (owner of the Spanish News/Talk trimulcast WURN, WLVJ and WURN-FM) announced that it would acquire WMYM.[3][4]
