WMGQ
WMGQ, known on-air as Magic 98.3, is a radio station broadcasting from Somerset, New Jersey (the site of both the studio and transmitter tower) and licensed in New Brunswick (less than a mile away). It is located at 98.3 FM. The station can be heard in Monmouth, Middlesex, Somerset, Mercer, Union, and Hunterdon counties. Some programming including WMGQ's morning show and some personalities are shared with sister station WJRZ-FM "Magic 100.1" in Manahawkin which was also programmed by WMGQ's OM/PD Jeff Rafter.
The station plays mostly adult contemporary and soft rock music from the 1970s through the present, and their slogans are "Continuous Soft Rock" and "Today's Hits and Yesterday's Favorites". WMGQ is owned by Greater Media, along with its sister station, WCTC. The station plays core artists like Lady Gaga, Billy Joel, Elton John, John Mayer, Bon Jovi, Kelly Clarkson, Coldplay, Beyoncé, and Journey. Magic 98.3 uses Reelworld's WLIT 2005 currently for their jingle package. Back in the 1990s, the station used to have their jingles sung by a company called JAM Creative Productions up until 2002.
Traditionally, Magic 98.3 starts playing Christmas music 24/7 from Thanksgiving Eve until Christmas Day is over. From 2005 to 2009, WMGQ played Christmas music on November 20 to the day after Christmas is over (which most radio stations do). Before in 2005, they played their Reelworld's WLIT 2005 holiday jingle. But since 2010, they have stopped playing it. Magic 98.3 have been playing their custom holiday jingles that Reelworld have made just for them.
