WHRX is a Public Radio formatted broadcast radio station licensed to Nassawadox, Virginia, serving the Nassawadox/Exmore area. WHRX is owned and operated by Hampton Roads Educational Telecommunications Association, Inc, and is a repeater of sister station WHRV.[1]

History

In late 2010, WJCN was sold by Baker Family Stations to Hampton Roads Educational Telecommunications Association, Inc. for an undisclosed sum. WJCN dropped its Contemporary Christian format before Christmas and began broadcasting Christmas music. After New Years of 2011, the newly christened WHRX began simulcasting sister station WHRV.

Call sign history

The WHRE call sign that this station used briefly was previously used on television station WTPC-TV up until late 2010. The station is located in nearby Virginia Beach and is unrelated to either this station or the current WHRE.
