WCW/nWo Thunder is a video game released on the PlayStation console by THQ in 1998. Thunder is the sequel to WCW Nitro and updates the previous game with new characters and features, including cage matches, battle royals, weapon use, and the ability to select what stable each wrestler competed for (this included WCW, nWo Hollywood, nWo Wolfpac, Raven's Flock, and The Four Horsemen). However, Thunder received poor reviews. Many of these were due to its graphics, style, and overall atmosphere, which bore too many similarities to WCW Nitro (e.g. all the cheat codes were exactly the same). A modification was also made to the control scheme, which allowed players to wear down and easily beat the opponent simply by winning grapples repeatedly, hitting your opponent once and then pinning them in around 30 seconds. This contributed to the harsh reviews the game received.

Later in 1999, new versions of the game's predecessor Nitro were released for PCs and Nintendo 64, featuring the updated roster from Thunder.

WCW/nWo Thunder received mixed to negative reviews. Rotten Tomatoes gave the game a 44%, while Metacritic gave the game 51 out of 100 reviews. Most negative points were given to the poor graphics, and difficulty of the controls. Despite the poor reviews given, the game went on to sell 1 million copies.[2]
