Vyvyan Lorrayne

Vyvyan Lorrayne (born 20 April 1939) is a South African former ballet dancer.

Vyvyan Lorrayne was born on 20 April 1939 in Pretoria. She studied with Salaman and Faith de Villiers, and then danced with Durban Civic Ballet. She studied further at the Royal Ballet School from 1956.[1]

In 1957, she joined The Royal Ballet, and was appointed a principal in 1967. Lorrayne created roles in several ballets including Frederick Ashton's Monotones (1965), Jazz Calendar and Enigma Variations (both 1968), Ronald Hynd's Charlotte Brontë (1974), P. Wright's Arpège and El amor brujo (both 1975), and David Bintley's Meadow of Proverbs (1979).[1]

Lorrayne retired in 1979.[1]

In 1984, she appeared in the film Top Secret!.
