Vyprážaný syr (Slovak pronunciation: [ˈvypraːʒaniː ˈsir]) (literally "fried cheese") is a popular Slovak and Czech cheese-based dish.

A slice of cheese, usually Edam or Emmental, about 1.5 cm or 0,5 inch in thickness, is breaded with flour, egg and bread crumbs and fried either in a pan or in a deep fryer. It is traditionally served with potatoes (fries or boiled potatoes) and a side salad (e.g., tomatoes and cucumbers). The usual complement is tartar sauce (Slovak: tatárska omáčka) or mayonnaise. The dish may also be prepared with a thin slice of ham sandwiched between two slices of cheese (Slovak: so šunkou).
