Vladislav Doronin (Vladimir Doronin) (7 November 1962) is an international businessman and real estate developer. He is the founder and chairman of Moscow-based Capital Group.

Early life and education

Vladislav Doronin was born on November 7, 1962 in Saint-Petersburg, Russia. He graduated from the Moscow Lomonosov State University. In 1991 he launched the ‘Capital Group.’[1]

Business career

Doronin started ‘Capital Group’ in 1991 as a commodity trading company.[1] In 1993 Capital Group entered the Moscow commercial real estate market with class A offices and retail projects. Over time, its portfolio expanded with deluxe and business class residential developments. Capital Group has built up its portfolio to include 70 high-end residential and commercial projects with a total of 7 million square meters of space.[2]

In April 2014 it was announced that Doronin and Miami developer Ugo Colombo were finalizing plans for the joint development of 2 luxury condominium complexes. The Brickell Flatiron 750-foot skyscraper project has begun selling in Miami.[3] The project is slated for completion in 2018 and includes 552 units with 65 stories. The architect is Luis Revuelta.[4] Recently, Julian Schnabel oversaw the Miami installation of his 20 foot high sculpture, Ahab, in front of the sales gallery for Brickell Flatiron.[5]

In February 2014 Vladislav Doronin became Aman Group's majority owner. The Aman Group is the holding company of Aman Resorts, a collection of international luxury resorts. In July 2014 Mr. Doronin and a minor shareholder were involved in a legal dispute regarding leadership of the group. As of September 2014 that dispute is still not fully resolved. [6]

Awards and recognition

Doronin was recognized as “Businessman of the Year” in 2009 by RosBusinessConsulting (RBC).[1] According to Building.ru Doronin is one of the top ten most professional developers in Russia.[7] Doronin was acknowledged as the head of the list of “Top 1000 Russian Managers Rating 2011,” in the category of Development.[8] The CRE Awards of 2013 recognized Doronin’s Capital Group as the “Developer of the Decade.”[9] Doronin was named one of the “Kings of Russian Real Estate” by Forbes in 2014.[10]
