Vladimir Micov (Serbian: Владимир Мицов, born April 16, 1985) is a Serbian professional basketball player who plays for Galatasaray Liv Hospital of the Turkish Basketball League. He is 2.03 m (6 ft 8 in) tall. He can play as a shooting guard or small forward.

Professional career

Micov began his pro career in the 2003-04 season with OKK Beograd. He then moved to KK Lavovi 063 in the 2004-05 season. He joined Budućnost Podgorica for the 2005-06 season. He moved to Partizan Belgrade in 2007. He won the Serbian League championship with Partizan Belgrade in 2007.

He then returned to Budućnost Podgorica for the 2007-08 season. In 2009, he joined the Greek League club Panionios Nea Smyrni.[1][2] He then moved to the Spanish ACB League club Caja Laboral Baskonia.[3] In January 2010 he joined the Italian League team Pallacanestro Cantù.[4]

In July 2012 he signed a one-year deal with the option for a second year with the Russian team PBC CSKA Moscow.[5] In June 2013, CSKA decided not to use the option to terminate contract, that way keeping him in the club for one more season.[6] In July 2014, his contract with CSKA expired and he became a free agent.[7]

On July 14, 2014, he signed with the Turkish team Galatasaray Liv Hospital.[8]

International career

Micov won the gold medal at the 2001 FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship as a member of the Yugoslavian youth national team. He won the bronze medal at the 2005 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship as a member of the Serbia and Montenegro junior national team.

His breakthrough in senior Serbian national team was set back by injuries, but eventually he was a part of preliminary Serbia national squad during the preparations for the 2014 FIBA World Cup. It was expected of him to make the final cut of the team, however, during the last match of the preparations, against New Zealand, Micov got into an argument with coach Aleksandar Đorđević during the game, after which he expelled Micov from the court and later from the arena.[9] In the press conference after the game, Serbian coach announced that "his short career in the national squad has ended", with Micov later saying to the media that he read coach's words and he accepts his decision, while also stating that Đorđević was "maybe too nervous".[10][11]
