Visual Collaborative is an exhibition platform that showcases a range of creative disciplines. Features the works of emerging visual artists, musicians and technologists. The goal of the curated events is to create dialogue and experiences through its featured works and climatic themes.
The scope of the exhibitions is to bring awareness to various causes which include innovative ideas, adding value to the domain of humanities. Has partnered with foundations such as Voices for Children Miami, [1] Visual Collaborative produces expositions and art events. [2]
History
Visual Collaborative, starting as a traveling exhibition, was created by multidisciplinary designer Adé Abayomi Olufeko in the autumn of 2006, having observed the relationship between artists and the barriers to entry towards innovation. The group operating in Minneapolis with partnerships in New York City, to date has showcased the works of artists in the U.S cities of Minneapolis, Miami, New York City, San Francisco, Columbia Maryland, and Washington D.C., expanding its database of artists and audience. Its first show aired on a webcast shown on AIT. The group's inaugural event which headlined Miko Simmons and Linda Zacks, took place in 2007 at the Center for Independent Artists, inside Instituto de Cultura y Educacion located in the Powderhorn community of South Minneapolis.
Scope
The Visual Collaborative exhibitions occur in a traveling formatted pattern as a Biennale, happening as pop-ups in reputable galleries, lofts[3] or donated spaces by private owners[4] which include art enthusiasts and lifelong patrons of the arts. Creating a forward thinking platform for artists, professionals and curators to initiate dialogue which incorporate post-digital experiences with the selected community.
