The violet-throated metaltail (Metallura baroni) — also called métallure de baron, metalura de azuay, and metalura gorjivioleta — is a species of hummingbird in the Trochilidae family found only in Ecuador. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist montane forests and subtropical or tropical high-altitude grassland. it is threatened by habitat loss.
