Vinnie Lauria (born Vincent Lauria) is an entrepreneur and venture capitalist. He is a General Partner at Golden Gate Ventures[1] and a fellow of the Kauffman Fellows Program.[2] He is an adviser to Blueseed, a seasteading venture to create a startup community located on a vessel stationed in international waters near the coast of Silicon Valley.[3] He was part of the founding team of Meetro, a notable start-up that built a location-based services (LBS) social messenger built out of a garage in Palo Alto.[4] It was launched in 2004 and has since been terminated.[5]

Lauria co-founded Lefora.com and served as VP of Product until the company's acquisition by CrowdGather, Inc.[6] Lefora.com is a forum hosting service, home to topics as varied as Automotive, Music, Gaming, Sports, and Finance forums. Lauria is also known for founding the 10,000+ member Silicon Valley NewTech Meetup in Palo Alto, CA.[7] He was a contributing author to the book "Web 2.0 Fundamentals: With AJAX, Development Tools, and Mobile Platforms".[8] Lauria is a graduate of Boston University’s College of Engineering.[9]

Golden Gate Ventures

In late 2011, serial entrepreneurs Vinnie Lauria, Paul Bragiel, of i/o Ventures, and seasoned investor Jeffrey Paine raised a $10 million seed venture fund to invest in early-stage technology companies in Southeast Asia.[10] The fund also helps to bring successful Asian entrepreneurs to Silicon Valley.[11] As of March 2012, Golden Gate Ventures has been accredited as a Technology Incubation Scheme (TIS) incubator by Singapore’s National Research Foundation.[12] As of July 31, 2013 the firm has invested in over 6 companies.[13]
