Vinko Pandurević

Vinko Pandurević (born 1959) was the commanding officer of the Zvornik Brigade[1] during the Bosnian War. He was put on trial for war crimes at International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in the Hague for his role in the Srebrenica massacre of 1995, in which more than 8000 Bosniak men and boys were killed.[2]

Pandurević's defense lawyer argued he had "no effective control" of his brigade during the time when the atrocities occurred.[1] However, he was convicted of aiding and abetting murder, persecution and inhumane acts, although he was acquitted of the charges of genocide, extermination and deportation, and was sentenced to 13 years in prison.[3]
