Biography
Kinra was born in Milton (Ontario), Canada, and raised in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. She attended Maharani Gayatri Devi Girls’ Public School (MGD), where she excelled, and went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree from University of Rajasthan in 1996. Upon completion of her Master’s degree in French translation and interpretation from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, in 2001, Kinra was awarded a scholarship by the French Government to teach English at Lycée Internationale Stendhal, Grenoble, France (2001-2002).[7] She went on to become an English lecturer at Université Stendhal, Grenoble, France (2002-2003), and at University of Orléans, France (2003-2004). She has numerous academic accomplishments, including Post-Graduate diploma in Human Resources Management from University of Rajasthan (1996-1997); Post-Graduate diploma in Public Relations from Rajendra Prasad Institute of Communication and Management, Mumbai (1998-1999); and Diploma in Business French from Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie de Paris (2003). Works
Vinita Kinra debuted her literary career with Pavitra in Paris, a collection of eleven short stories published by Greengardens Media in 2013. The stories focus on South Asian experiences, mainly East Indian, and cover broad universal themes of love and marriage, fading passions and compromise, lusting after the forbidden, bridging the generation gap, desperation of poverty, and uprooted families during political upheavals, among others.[14][15][16]
Kinra’s next book, Imagine: Selected Quotations, is a collection of her original quotes, many of which have been used by international organizations.[17]
