Vijay Singh (born July 13, 1948) is a former officer from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) from the 1970 batch belonging to the Madhya Pradesh Cadre was appointed Defense Secretary, in the Ministry of Defence, by the Government of India, in August 2007. He succeed Shekhar Dutt, IAS, of 1969 batch, who, on superannuation, was appointed as Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategic and Defence related subjects in the National Security Council Secretariat, with rank and pay of Secretary to the Government of India, for a term of 2 years.[1]
