Vijay Maurya is an Indian film actor and writer who works in Hindi & Marathi Cinema.[2]
Early life
Vijay Maurya was born and raised in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He did his Bachelors in chemistry from Patkar college in Mumbai. He also has a diploma in Rubbers & Plastomers from Bhagubhai College of Polytechnics. He worked at Magus Marketing as a marketing executive for Citibank Credit Cards in 1992–93.
Career
Theatre
Maurya began his career in theatre by enrolling in a workshop under Satyadev Dubey for acting. He was an integral part of Prithvi theatre from 1993–2008. He has worked in 14 original plays which have had a total of over 2500 shows. Some of his plays include Meena Kumari, Airawat, solah saal ka aakash, Jungle ke paar, Laila, Sa hi Besura. The play Sa hi Besura[3] which came out in 2007 is still running with successful shows.
He's worked with Makrand Deshpande, Sudhir Pandey, Kay Kay Menon, Sanjna Kapoor among others.
Films
Maurya has acted in critically acclaimed movies like Nishikanth Kamath's Mumbai Meri Jaan[4] & Anurag Kashyap's[5] Black Friday.[6] He is also a screenplay writer and has won a National film award for the best original screenplay for writers for the movie Chillar Party along with Nitesh Tiwari and Vikas Bhal.[7] Vijay Maurya is debuting as a feature film Director with a Marathi Film produced by well known playback singer Neha Rajpal under her maiden production banner "Neha Rajpal Productions"[8][9][10] Maurya is also writing the Screenplay & Dialogues of this Romantic Comedy with award winning writer Yogesh Vinayak Joshi. The film is slated for release in 2015[11][12][13][14]
