Vierka Berkyová

Vierka Berkyová (born 23 February 1991 in Lučenec, Slovakia) is the winner of the third season of Slovakia searching for a SuperStar in 2007, she is of gypsy (traveller) origin.

She and her family lived with the singer Ida Kellarová (cs) while working on the musical adaptation of Gypsies go to Heaven, which was depicted in the documentary "Vierka, or The Mystery of Family B’s Disappearance",[1] filmed by Miroslav Janek (cs).

After winning the competition, she was meant to be recording her first album, however she was more interested in doing live stand-ups and being paid in cash. In fact, not too long after the competition's conclusion one could hire Vierka for promotional actions and parties using a web site run by her father. When BMG Recordings issued Vierka with a warning, imploring her to come back to the studio and start recording otherwise her contract might be terminated, Vierka and her extended family fled for the UK and vanished. As of now, Vierka has no single in the charts and she has not yet released an album. It is often argued that Vierka was extremely telented but her cynical father was more interested in using her to make money and pushed her in the wrong direction. We can assume Vierka will never have a come-back and become a real star (as she would if she stayed in Slovakia, ignored her father and worked with BMG); rumour has it she makes her money by singing in pubs across London and South England.
