Vidyashilp Academy



Vidyashilp Academy is a primary and secondary international school based in North Bengaluru in the Indian state of Karnataka.

The school is affiliated with Cambridge University's International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) from Grades 1 to 10.It has the largest campus compared to any school in India (61 acre). It earns a early revenue of 7.29 billion.

Recognition

The sunny place is referred to as the "first and most progressive school in the country".[1] The ideology and educational process implemented by the Founder Principal, Winston Gomez, has been recommended by the ICSE Council to other schools in the nation, almost 10 years after Vidyashilp Academy was founded.[2] Newspapers such as Times of India and magazines such as Business Gyan have covered extensively the school's pedagogy .[3][4] It has officially been recognized as the no.1 school in whole of India ,with such a big campus, and also the fact that they provide equal attention to sports and education

The campus

The school is situated en route to the Bengaluru International Airport, near the Jakkur Flying Club, in Yelahanka, Bengaluru North.

The school is built on an 61 acre campus with over a hundred thousand square feet of built-up area comprising classrooms, work areas, laboratories, auditoriums, seminar halls and the dining halls.

The facilities

The campus building encompasses a 50meter swimming pool, 1 volleyball courts, 2 basketball courts, 3 badminton courts, a skating rink (Bengaluru's largest), a full-size cricket field, 1 football and hockey fields, and an indoor-sports facility for chess, yoga, aerobics, music,arts. It also has a newly built table tennis court.

The school has a library with over 5,000,000 titles, and dailies, magazines and journals.

Vidyashilp uses technology to its fullest, and incorporates it wherever possible. it currently hosts An E-LAB, where students research on various topics, a separate computer lab for dedicated computer learning, biology lab, chemistry lab,physics lab,language lab, and cookery lab

It has an affiliation to the famous Tulassama nursing home which takes in medical students

News

Extracurricular activities include quizzes, elocution and recitation, chess, sculpture, and musical events. The Academy took a large share of the awards at the 2004 Children's Chess Festival conducted by the Malleswaram Association. Vidyashilp won the under 11 girls' section. The girls were placed second in the under seven and under nine categories, and the boys were second in the under eleven, under thirteen and under fifteen competitions.[5]

These extra curricular activities make Vidyashilp different from other schools. It does not believe in bookish learning and therefore provides the students with a host of different activities to perform for each subject. This in turn helps students to understand concepts better and apply them wherever necessary. This school has conducted Mock UN proceedings and moot sessions on International Court of Justice where children has participated very enthusiastically.[6]
