Vidya Devi Jindal School, or VDJS, is a residential school for girls in Hisar, Haryana, India, founded in 1984. Late Shri OP Jindal, former member of Parliament, philanthropist, industrialist of Haryana had a vision for creating a girls residential school at Hisar. It was the maiden venture of the Vidya Devi Jindal Rural Development Trust established in 1981 by Shri OP Jindal. The school became functional in July 1984 and was granted affiliation by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) the same year.

The motto of the school is enshrined in the Sanskrit words Vidya Jyoti Jeevan Jyoti which means 'The Light of Knowledge Is the Light of Life'.

At VDJS, a residential school, the medium of teaching is the English language.

VDJS has 650 boarders with a teacher student ratio of 1:13 and vegetarian cuisine.

Location

It is approximately 150 km from New Delhi, between Hansi and Hisar. The spacious campus has an academic wing, a utility block, an large auditorium, a health club, an infirmary, a dining hall with a seating capacity of 1000, an outdoor swimming pool, a roller skating rink and four hostels to accommodate 800 students. Accommodation for all members of VDJS is provided on the campus.

Inter house activities include cultural festivals and recitation in addition to sports and games.

Foreign links

The school has an annual exchange with Lancaster Girls' Grammar School in northwest England and schools like St. Clement's School in Canada and Stanford Lake College in South Africa.
