Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) is a Dravidian political party in Tamil Nadu. Its chairman is Thol. Thirumavalavan, a lawyer from Chennai. The party's main principle is the uplift of scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, Other Backward Classes, and minorities such as the Christians and Muslims of Tamil Nadu. Now it was started in Andhra Pradesh and Kerala.

History

The party was formed in 1988 as the counter to the Pattali Makkal Katchi which is a vanniyar (a backward designated land owning community) party. It was a part of the erstwhile Dalit Panthers Of India Tamil Nadu unit.

Local body elections 2011

The party announced that it would run candidates for all the city corporations of Tamil Nadu.

Party's growth; For this reason, party leader Thol. Thirumavalavan's visit to Sri Lanka was forbidden by the Sri Lankan government. The party also declared that Mahinda Rajapaksa should be charged with war crimes for the alleged assassination of thousands of innocent Tamil people during war against the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. In the Parliament of India in May 2012, Thirumavalavan joined other leaders and raised issue of the Ambedkar cartoon, sparking a controversy in Parliament.
