Vidisco is a designer and manufacturer of portable digital X-ray inspection systems. The company was founded in 1988 to develop a digital portable solution to X-ray inspection of unexploded ordnance,[1] and the company develops new digital X-ray technologies.[2] Vidisco was the first company to integrate amorphous Silicon Flat panels into truly portable X-ray systems.[3][4][5][6] The company is the main supplier of portable digital radiography inspection systems to the Israeli Defense Forces, and exports products to over 75 countries.

Products and technologies

Digital X-ray can generate images on the spot for immediate analysis, for inspection and security duties including bomb detection and disposal, as a tool for VIP security and protection,[7] searches for drug and contraband smuggling, customs offices, forensics and applications in Nondestructive testing (NDT)[8] such as pipe inspections in refineries and the petrochemical industry, composite material testing in the aerospace industry[9] as well as inspection of welding in shipyards and art and archeological artifacts.[10][11][12][13][14][15] The company also markets digital radiography systems for veterinary use, to treat race horses at the track.[16]
