Victoria Park railway station is located on the South Morang and Hurstbridge lines in Victoria, Australia. It serves the north-eastern Melbourne suburb of Abbotsford opening as Collingwood on 8 May 1888, being renamed Victoria Park on 1 May 1909.[1]
Between 1888 and 1901 it was the terminus of the Collingwood to Heidelberg railway line. Until a direct connection with the Melbourne City Centre was made in 1901 between Princes Bridge and Collingwood, the only connection to the city centre was via the Inner Circle.
A former goods yard is adjacent to Platform 1, whilst a stabling siding is situated at the northern end of the station. In 1981 new station buildings were built.[2]
Victoria Park was once a busy station as it was the closest station to Victoria Park, the home of the Collingwood Football Club until 1999. Large numbers of people used Victoria Park station to travel to and from matches played at the stadium.
