Velous
Tyler Bryant (born September 11, 1991), better known as his stage name Velous is an American recording artist and record producer from Kingston, New York. He is mostly known for featuring on the song, "Adult Swim" by DJ Spinking and co-producing Kanye West's single, "All Day".[1][2]
Early life
Tyler Bryant was born on September 11, 1991 in Kingston, New York. His father who is now deceased, was a musician. His mother was a singer. When he was eleven, he began rapping after listening to Kanye West's, "Through the Wire". He learned how to play the drums, then the piano and then started playing the guitar when he was twelve years old. He started getting into production when he was thirteen.[3] His father taught him how to play the drums when he was young. He was also in a jazz ensemble in high school.[4]
Career
Velous came up with the idea of his name after someone told him how marvelous his production skills were. The name Velous is 'Marvelous' minus the Mar. In 2011, he released his debut mixtape, Velocity The Mixtape.[5] The release helped Velous gain attention from Cus Maven and signed him to Swanky Music Group.[6] Velous met Fabolous through fellow producer Vinylz, that Velous was frequently working with for the past year. Vinlyz and Velous went to Fabolous' studio to check on what he was doing. Velous ended up playing some of his music and Fabolous really liked it. Then he went with them to a studio in New Jersey and he just started connecting and working with them. Velous and Fabolous ended up recording the song, "Gone For The Winter" for Fab's album, The Young OG Project in 2014.[7]
In 2014, French Montana has also signed him to his label, Coke Boys Records. French Montana talks about Velous in an interview with Village Voice saying, "I love his style. He sings. He raps. He's everything in one." He revealed that Velous also impressed Kanye West. "He came to the studio and played me like 1,000 songs", he said, before adding that Kanye West picked "like two beats" from Velous.[8] In 2015, Velous announced that he is releasing his debut EP called The Disco.
