• The shooting of the film Devaasuram was nearby, wherein Cochin Haneefa and Janardhanan played roles in the film.
• Geetha had to reject the lead female role in the film Akashadoothu for completing this film.

Reception

Vatsalyam was a Vishu release. The film was a super hit. It is one of the biggest family hit movies in the history of Malayalam film industry. It completed 100 days in a theatre in Thalassery (dharma movies).It was also one of the hits of that year.
