Vatica obscura is a species of plant in the Dipterocarpaceae family. It is endemic to Sri Lanka.

It is an Endangered species threatened by habitat loss.

Leaves

lanceolate, acuminate base, obtuse to broadly cuneate base, lateral veins 11-15 pairs, arched, slender, with shorter intermediaries, intercostals densely reticulate, midrib prominently elevated.

Trunk

Bark - pale gray, smooth, hoop-marked; young parts densely pubescent.

Flowers

Inflorescence - many-flowered, axillary panicles.

Fruits

globose, subequal short wings.

Ecology

forest canopy; riverine forest.
