Vasyl Stefanyk National University of Precarpathia is a Ukrainian university in Ivano-Frankivsk.

History

The university opened in January 1940 at the request of local authorities as the Teaching Institute in Stanislaviv. After the declaration of Independence of Ukraine was signed, more favorable conditions for education and science integration were created. On August 26, 1992, then-named Ivano-Frankivsk Pedagogical Institute was reorganized into the Vasyl Stefanyk National University of Precarpathia. In 2004 the University was declared a “national” institution.
