Vassos Alexander

Vassos Alexander Georgiades is a BBC sports reporter, presenter and commentator. He can currently be heard on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2.[1] He also reports for BBC Radio 5 Live, primarily commentating on golf, darts and tennis as well as occasionally presenting 5live Sport.

Career

Before joining Radio 2, Alexander presented the sport on the 5live Breakfast Programme for three years,[2] during which time he went to the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics and two Ryder Cups - as well as several Open Golf Championships, Wimbledon, the Australian and French Open tennis, Ashes cricket Tests and to a Champions League final.[3] He replaced the ill Tony Green at the 2011 BDO World Darts Championships and returned the following year in a three-man rotation with Green and David Croft. He has remained a Lakeside commentator ever since.[4]

Personal

Alexander was born and brought up in South West London. He currently lives in Barnes, with his wife, Caroline, and three children, Emily,Matthew and Mary. He enjoys running and speaks five languages (English, Greek, French, Russian, German). Vassos supports Fulham.
