Valley of the Golden Mummies
The Valley of the Golden Mummies is a huge burial site at Bahariya Oasis in the Western Desert of Egypt, dating to the Greco-Roman period. Discovered in 1996 by Dr. Zahi Hawass and his Egyptian team, around two hundred fifty mummies were recovered over the period of several seasons. Eventually, the excavator further estimated more than ten thousand mummies.[1]
