Vellore Madhavan Muralidharan, better known as Mike Muralidharan, (born 29 December 1959) is an Indian information technology industry veteran and an academician. Currently, he is the Chairman of Ethiraj College Trust and the Global Chief Operating Officer of Bahwan CyberTek Group.
Personal life and education
Muralidharan was born on 29 December 1959 in Chennai, India. He is the son of V.J. Madhavan, a banker, and Chandrika Madhavan, a homemaker. His family hails from Vellore. He and his brother, Manoj, were brought up in the city of Chennai.
Muralidharan did his schooling in St. Bede's Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School. He did his pre-university education in Loyola College, Chennai. He completed his Bachelor's with Honors degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering in 1983 from the College of Engineering, Guindy.
He is married to Kalpana and they have two children, Varshini and Saravan Krishna.
Career
Muralidharan started his career with two of India’s biggest IT giants – Wipro, where he worked for 7 years between 1983 and 1990 and HCL, 10 years, between 1990 and 2000. In his role as General Manager at HCL in 2000, he was heading the operations at Bangalore, the IT capital of India.
His entrepreneurship venture, Precision Techserve, is a global organization offering innovative infrastructure solutions to their customers. In his role as Director & President, between 2001 & 2010, he managed and oversaw a number of key areas.
At present, since 2010, in his role as the Global Chief Operating Officer of Bahwan CyberTek Group, a global software services organization, he spearheads the global operations.
As the Chairman of Ethiraj College Trust, since September 2013, he heads the Trust Board that oversees the functioning of the renowned Ethiraj College for Women, Chennai and the Ethiraj Matriculation School, Vellore. Both campuses together house close to 10,000 students. Muralidharan, great grand nephew of the Founder Chairman V. L. Ethiraj, is the youngest & the first person from the founder's family to head the Trust Board. Earlier, he was the Financial Trustee.
