Uttanur
History
Uttanur is a historical place of Kolar district. Uttanur village has over 1000 years history. In the period of the Gangas, Uttanur have more important place for trading and traditions. The Gangas built a Sri Uttameshwara temple in Uttanur. Recently Uttameshvara Yuvakara Sangha modified the temple.
The great Saint Brugu Maharshi built a Sri Varadaraja Swamy temple in Uttanur. The Uttanur is known as a Uttama Kanchi. Every year on the day of Bharatha Hunime the Rathothsava will take place. It is an important place for Saints for doing Japa Thapas. In olden days Uttanur having power full compound around the village it is built to give protection for Saints to do traditional pooja vidhis.
In Uttanur Sri Beereshwara Swamy temple, once in every ten years the jathra takes place here. In Uttanur Sri Ganapathi temple build by Ganigara Sri JR Lakshminarayanashetty.
